Are Panama Seafarer Medicals Needed?

A Panama seafarer medical is often required in addition to a UK ENG1 medical for those working on ships flagged under the Panama flag.

How is a Panama Seafarer medical assessment conducted?

A medical exam very similar to an ENG1 requires:

• Checking your height, weight, blood pressure, and examining your physical condition to determine your fitness level.
• Testing your eye sight (before and after you put on glasses) and your colour vision.
• Checking your hearing.
• Listing any medication you’re currently taking on the medical form.
• Asking about your previous medical history (these questions are on the medical form).

How should I prepare for my Panama Seafarer Medical Appointment?

Here are the items you will need for your Panama Seafarer Medical:

• Photo ID
• Your previous Panama Seafarer Certificate (if you have one).
• Your glasses (do not wear contact lenses as they are removed for the eyesight test).
• A urine sample. Our reception will give you a specimen pot on arrival and direct you to the bathroom.
• Any hospital letters and/or a list of your current medication.
